African Island Beach Resort has been created with beach lovers in mind, to satisfy the need for sun, sand and surf - without the long drive, heavy petrol costs, and constantly being asked "Are we there yet? " Big or small - Everyone can enjoy themselves by spending some quality time on our white, sandy "beaches". Whether you're here for a tan, you're looking to get wet, or you just want to enjoy yourself for a few hours, away from the hustle and bustle of city living, you can't go wrong with African Island. Please feel free to bring your own food and drink and enjoy a picnic at our resort. Don't forget to bring a gazebo or umbrella for a bit of shade. African Island is experiencing the full force of the African sun this Summer!

Our farm is situated in Skeerpoort, a village at the foot of the majestic Magaliesberg mountains and we are open six days a week from 8h00 to 17h00. We are closed on Tuesdays. We have a restaurant and full function facilities for weddings, family outings, corporate functions, team building and any kind of festive occasion. Tailor made proposals can be arranged like lunches for tour groups, picnics and wine tasting. Besides our restaurant we can offer you a lovely relaxing picnic on the banks of the Skeerpoort river. The picnic hampers must be booked at least a day in advance. Any quantity of cheese can be bought at the Farm Shop, as well as a selection of wine, preserves, souvenirs, a range of Dutch favorites, sweets, odds and ends. Bookings are essential.

Bophirima, once known as Stellaland, is situated in the unadulterated splendour of the North West Province of South Africa. This part of the country is quiet, known for spectacularly serene landscapes and miles upon miles of gorgeous farmlands. T here is a lot of history in the region too, which means plenty of monuments, memorials and museums along the way. In addition to these natural and historical attractions, the Bophirima area is acclaimed around the world for being the site of the discovery of the Taung Skull; a child's skull believed by scientists to be some 2. 5 million years old. This has come to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thanks to the value of this finding in terms of establishing Africa as the probable Cradle of Humankind. Situated nearby to the actual site as which this skull was discovered are the Blue Pools.
