Overberg Agri stores the largest amount of malting barley in South Africa. The total storage capacity is approximately 300 000 ton, with depots at Bredasdorp, Klipdale, Protem, Napier, Rietpoel, Krige and Caledon. The division also includes two seed processing factories, where approximately 10 000 ton seed is cleaned and distributed every year. Other activities of this division include an Agricultural development division, where well trained staff provide clients with advice and support relating to the technical aspects of the various production facets. In order to provide support for this function, Overberg Agri has a fully functioning farming unit at Caledon, which is also used as a research farm. Various research projects are undertaken here, by means of experimental planting, among others. Overberg Agri is well established as an important facilitator in the marketing process of all grain, and is also directly involved in the marketing of grazing crops.
