When the indigenous people of the southern African continent observed the first trains on the distant horizon, the rolling stock recalled for them the profile and sinuous movement of a creature they called a shongololo or millipede. Shongololo Express began operations in 1995 and the company has continued to provide a very special touring experience for visitors to Southern Africa.
