A “Nova” appears in the sky as a strong sudden brightness. The word comes from the Latin term “Novus“, it means new. Many times a star that was previously too dim to be seen with the naked eye can become the brightest object in that sky area; we call this Star a “Nova”. “Novae” are now known as such due to their re-ignition after having lain dormant for many years. Also remarkable is that stars often join in pairs, or "binaries“, where two stars are in orbit naturally around each other.
