The late Ian Baldwin Gillies and Jennifer Gillies opened Giles in 1994. Giles was sold to a consortium in 2018. The restaurant is in the throes of being upgraded and is now run by the Founders Grill family. The Giles pub definitely gives you the feeling of being in an Ol' English Pub and attracts an upmarket crowd. Giles is popular amongst young professionals, local residents and sport fanatics alike, and some local stalwarts. Founders Restaurant has started to make inroads into other steakhouse clientele, with comments like "Best Burger Ever" and "Will definitely be back for the T-Bone". The restaurant has a superb deck overlooking the Craighall Park valley which has magnificent sunset views. The chef's have all been trained at the Founders Grill restaurant and are proud of the food that they are producing.
