The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) is a dispute resolution body established in terms of the Labour Relations Act, 66 of 1995 (LRA) . It is an independent body, does not belong to and is not controlled by any political party, trade union or business.

The Department of Labour will play a significant role in reducing unemployment, poverty and inequality through a set of policies and programmes developed in consultation with social partners, which are aimed at: * Improved economic efficiency and productivity * Employment creation * Sound labour relations * Eliminating inequality and discrimination in the workplace * Alleviating poverty in employment

Workers who become unemployed have the right to claim from the UIF. Workers must apply and will be paid at the labour centre of their choice.
