Child Welfare Tshwane - Oelievenhoutbosch
Centurion, South Africa

In the formal community (government housing) there is electricity for all the houses, as well as water and sanitation. The informal settlement area, however, is crowded, lacks sanitation, electricity and all basic municipal services. The local primary school highlighted the need for intervention with the orphans in the community. Recent counts in the primary school alone indicated approximately 168 orphans. Many of these children are forced, through circumstances, to form part of a child-headed household. Olievenhoutbosch Community Office consists of two offices - one at the community centre and the other just outside Olievenhoutbosch, close to the Blue Hills farm. The intake worker is based at the community centre, whilst the foster care and community worker is based at Thusanang Centre. Programmes: *Family preservation *Foster care *Reunification services ...
