Autism Western Cape aims to increase public awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders. We focus on providing support, counselling and advisory services to support the needs of children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, along with their parents and caregivers. We work on early intervention awareness and advocacy, as well as training, capacity building and skills transfer for parents, caregivers, teachers, ECD practitioners and other professionals. We offer post diagnosis counselling and workshops to parents whose children have been diagnosed with Autism as well as support, information and advisory services to anyone that requires them. Autism Western Cape (previously the Society for Autistic Children) was founded in 1967. In 2003 the Society for Autistic Children was renamed Autism Western Cape and was transformed into a Section 21 governed by an independent Board of Directors.
