The Association was established in 1967. The founders identified that at the time; schooling facilities for Underprivileged children with disabilities did not exist. The Association then established 2 schools for children with disabilities. Post 1994, with the amalgamation of the Natal Indian Cripple Care Association and AFTD, social work services migrated to the rural communities of KZN rendering free services to all persons with disabilities. The Association; in its 54 years of existence has determined that the need for further intervention is necessary as children and adults with disabilities continue to be at risk of compounded marginalization. Currently, aligned to the nine strategic pillars that the White Paper on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2015) is built on; The Associations strives to offer high standard of Social work services to all persons with disabilities. The association operates in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
