Besides playing classical music to the wines, our winemaking follows a traditional approach with the emphasis on strict quality-control to all parts of the wine-production process. Careful selection and gentle harvesting of the grapes by hand, a minimal interference in the cellar through the magical process of fermentation and maturation in selected oak barrels. In this way we try to achieve an essential South African character in our wines, reflecting their origins in terms of our terroir. Through the exciting process of blending, we strive to get the very best of two wine-worlds; The 'Old World', elegant, but still complex wine, combined with the South African pronounced, but gently integrated fruits and flavours

The farm has a rich history and a proven passion to produce quality wines. The philosophy has always been to offer a product of excellent quality, while finding a balance between the need to protect the heritage of the estate and the necessity to develop and expand the brand. All the wines sold under the Goede Hoop Estate label, are grown, harvested, matured and bottled on the farm. The style of wine making is traditional in nature with certain cultivars still being fermented in the old fashioned way of using open cement tanks. We also offer an unique wine and dine experience - Pieter's Private Cellar.
