Die Afrikense Protestantse kerkverband besten uit gereformeerde kerke (gemeentes) van Christus wat: Die Drie-enige God werlik wil ken en wil dien; Jesus Christus as Here bely en in Hom as die enigste Middeler hulle volle redding verwag; in 'n wêreld wat die mens al meer sien as die norm van sy eie besluite, glo dat die oppermag van God vanuit sy Woord onverskrokke verkondig moet word; hul kerkwees bou op die Bybel as Woord van God; hulle roeping derin vind om God se Woord suiwer te verkondig en hierin sten die uitgangspunte van die reformasie vir hulle sentrel, te wete: Die Woord alleen (Sola Scriptura), Christus alleen (Solus Christus), genade alleen ( Sola Fide) ; die volgende belydenisskrifte enver omdat dit in ooreenstemming met God se Woord is: Ekumeniese belydenisse: die Apostoliese Geloofsbelydenis; die Geloofsbelydenis van Nicea en die Geloofsbelydenis van Athanasius.
