Surplus People Project (SPP) advocates for pro poor agrarian reform and food sovereignty. We believe that the rural economy can be transformed through land, water and agricultural reform. We support and build grassroots organisations & movements of small-scale farmers, farm dwellers and women in the Western and Northern Cape, through a process of political education, social mobilisation, institutional and agricultural development and research. Our lobbying strategy is informed by local experiences and participatory research. SPP has a staff compliment of 17. Our wide range of experiences, skills and competencies enable us to combine professional support for effective programme implementation with activism required for agrarian transformation and broader social change.
