What Is CBD? CBD, also known as Cannabidiol, is a natural compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD is actually a Cannabinoid, a compound that interacts directly with our body's Endocannabinoid system. It is non-psychoactive, so therefore does not produce a "high", however, it is said to have a number of medicinal properties and could be used as potential treatments covering a variety of psychological and physiological dis-ease conditions. CBD activates receptors (CB1 & CB2) in our bodies, which bring nutrition to the Endocannabinoid System, which is a group of lipid-based neurotransmitters and receptors that are involved in a variety of physiological processes. CB1 receptors are essential for a healthy functioning brain and are associated with appetite, memory, concentration, mood, motor function & pain. Although CB1 receptors are most common in the central nervous system, they are found throughout the body and a small portion of them may be found in the kidneys, lungs, or liver.
