Boland Fencing Association

Stellenbosch, South Africa
Boland Fencing is an organisation that was founded in 2006 as a governing body for all fencing clubs in the Boland region. The aim of Boland fencing is to promote and develop fencing and thereby making it accesable to all. There are at present four fencing clubs in the Boland region, namely USFC (University Stellenbosch Fencing Club), Fox's Cavalry, Somerset-West Fencing Club and Paul Roos Fencing Club. Fencing within the Boland region is highly structured, making use of a formal academic approach to supplement physical training. This means that students need to pass both theoretical as well as practical exams in order to advance in rank. This ensures that high standards of training are maintained while the student has a clear understanding of what is expected of him / her. Boland Fencing also boasts a rich fencing culture that promotes individuality and independent thinking while also teaching students how to work together as a group...

  • South African Sailing (SAS) - Western Cape
    Cape Town, South Africa
South African Sailing (SAS) is the recognised National Federation representing the interests of sailing in all its forms in South Africa. While SAS does organise regattas and the associated administration (it represents South Africa at ISAF and provides stewardship of the International Racing Rules that allow us to race here) it has a far more important and often unrecognised role of administering sailing at the discretion of Government. SAS is structured in such a way as to ensure that the interests of all its members are addressed and that everyone is able to make representation and be heard through the regional structures - the Regional Executive Committees, their sub committees, e. g. Dinghy Committee, Keelboat Committee, Youth etc, which in turn are entitled to be represented on each of the National Standing Committees and Council.
